Description

Special Work Vehicle ADAS + DSM + BSD Solution

Special work vehicles often operate in hazardous and complex environments. During operations, they commonly face three major safety hazards: visual blind spots caused by their large size; driver fatigue due to prolonged low-speed operations; and collision risks in complex environments. These hazards can easily lead to major accidents, resulting in immeasurable human and economic losses.

To address these safety risks, the use of an integrated intelligent protection system can effectively reduce the probability of most accidents.

I. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System)

The ADAS camera monitors the road ahead in real time. When the system detects a potential collision risk with a vehicle ahead or a pedestrian, it triggers an audible alert to inform the driver of the road conditions.

II. DSM (Driver State Monitoring)

The DSM camera monitors the driver in real time, closely tracking and alerting signs of fatigue, distraction, unresponsiveness, or smoking to ensure the driver maintains standardized driving behavior at all times.

III. BSD (Blind Spot Detection)

By installing BSD cameras and audio-visual alarms in blind spot areas, the system detects pedestrians or other vehicles in the blind zone and immediately issues a voice alert through the alarm to warn the driver.

Additionally, alarm events are uploaded in real time via a 4G network, allowing monitoring personnel to analyze whether the driver is engaging in non-compliant behavior through the alarm video and take appropriate measures. This enables enterprises to remotely monitor vehicles and drivers, enhancing driving safety.

I. Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)

Key Features:

1. Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Uses cameras and algorithms to monitor whether the vehicle is deviating from its lane in real time and alerts the driver through visual and audio warnings.

2. Forward Collision Warning (FCW)

Utilizes a monocular camera for distance measurement, obtaining distance information of vehicles ahead to provide collision warnings and alert the driver via visual and audio signals.

3. Pedestrian Crash Warning (PCW)

Collects road information ahead of the vehicle through the camera and performs pedestrian detection on the captured images to identify and locate pedestrians. If a pedestrian is detected in a hazardous zone in front of the vehicle, the system issues a danger alert and notifies the driver via visual and audio warnings.

II. Driver State Monitoring (DSM)

Key Features:

1. Fatigue – Monitors the driver's state to determine if they are not alert enough to perform driving tasks correctly.

  • Drowsy: A state where fatigue adversely affects the driver’s ability to focus on driving.
  • Microsleep: A brief, temporary sleep episode that may last a few seconds (no more than 3s).
  • Sleep: A state of unconsciousness due to fatigue lasting more than a few seconds (over 3s).

2. Distraction – Monitors anything that reduces the driver’s attention to the primary task of driving or controlling the vehicle.

  • Long Distraction: The driver’s gaze is away from the road ahead for an extended period, focusing on a non-driving-related point.
  • Short Distraction / Visual Attention Time Sharing (VATS): Repeated brief glances away from the road, reducing the driver’s situational awareness until their attention returns to driving for a sufficient duration.
  • Phone Use: Monitors phone calls or phone usage that distracts the driver.

3. Unresponsive Driver – Monitors if the driver becomes unresponsive during driving.

4. Smoking – Monitors smoking actions that distract the driver.

III. Blind Spot Detection (BSD)

Using millimeter-wave radar and cameras, the system monitors the vehicle’s blind spot areas. When a vehicle or pedestrian is detected entering the blind zone, it alerts the driver or nearby individuals via lights and sounds.
